I ve several time their, with train / plane and most of the time with sailing boat make some race with R.O.C between 1998 and 2000, crossing the channel from Cherbourg, sailing toward Jersey, cowes , Southampton, Poole, Guernsey, we had a good time with friend also coming from Paris for the WE. Bellow you can see NILROS a sailing boat made by a friend at that time, i think he will recgnisehis ship
